Enhancing yourself as a product.

You’re Not a Person, You’re A Product

There are a few things that happen when I go on the cam-girl forums, twitters and snapchats of the world. The first thing is that I get boobs in my face (on the social media parts, at least) lots and lots of boobs. The second thing I get is annoyed, and I mean that in the most polite way possible. Now, I’m not saying that every cam-girl annoys me by any means, but I get so unbelievably frustrated when I see them complaining about their regulars spending money on others, or how they can’t sell a product to their 60,000 followers on Twitter. Point blank, you’re not a person, you are a product and if you aren’t treating yourself that way, then therein lies the biggest problem.

I know you just read the following words in the paragraph above, but since my entire sermon in the Church of Camgirl Sales revolves around it, let’s just put it in our faces one more time.
YOU’RE NOT A PERSON. YOU’RE A PRODUCT.

You don’t need to take that literal. I mean, you do but not to the point of being a robotic, boring mess with no personality. Of course you’re going to need to have a personality and connect with people on a level that they can develop a sense of loyalty and get to know you. That’s not what I mean by that statement. What I mean is… all of that good “personal” stuff? That stuff that ropes them in and convinces them to spend, is what you’re selling. Your brains, brawn and beauty all wrapped up in a pretty package with a big damn bow on top. You are your own product, therefore you need to learn how to treat yourself as such.

My three biggest tips?

1. Create an Image and stick to it.
When you think of Ferrari what pops into your head? My guess is probably the color red. How about Pillsbury? Nascar? Kim Kardashian?
I could go on, but I think the point I’m trying to make is fairly evident. The Kardashian family is the perfect example. People can say all they want that “they are talentless” but I wholeheartedly disagree. Sure, they aren’t the same type of talent that was needed 20-30 years ago to reach the level of fame and notoriety that they’ve achieved, but it also isn’t 20-30 years ago, and it’s about time that people stopped living in the past and realized that the way consumerism works as a whole has changed. The Kardashians understand that and turned themselves into products in such an amazing way. I mean, they are literally able to sell the idea of THEMSELVES and make millions. In my opinion, that’s some talent. (If that’s not enough for you, they have talent at making money which is the talent I would pick ANY day of the week) They capitalize on the fact that they can post a single picture wearing an outfit, or talking about something and people will run out and fight to death over it in the stores. They create their own demand (which I’ll go over in another piece..which you should probably read… definitely read it. You’re gonna read it, right? LOVE ME!!!!) My point is, they understand the phrase “You’re a product, not a person” perfectly and slay with the execution. (#SlaaaaaaayMama)

I once heard a record producer give advice on how to stand out in any industry. He said that to make it in any industry people have to either be like you or want to be you. Which one are you going to be?

2. Don’t get emotionally invested.
Getting emotionally involved is such a rookie mistake and sadly I see it happen again and again. All too often there is a woe is me story from a cam-girl about how one of her best clients has been going in another girls room spending money, buying another girl presents, giving another girl attention. I’m emphasizing the word another because that’s what you should be doing, also. If your client is with someone else than #ByeFelicia, have fun, Sayonara…because guess what? You’ll find another client. Regulars come and go, that’s just the way of it. Convert someone else, move along. If they aren’t spending on you, then they shouldn’t matter to you.
Woah, woah, woah. Put away your pitchforks and let me elaborate a little. It’s natural that we are all going to like some of our regulars more than others, and form friendships. That’s honestly one of my favorite aspects of camming, it’s amazing getting to know so many different awesome people… but when you start to have expectations of your client, you become no better than a regular who starts to think they are entitled to things because of how much they have spent on you. Don’t be that guy, dude. Just don’t. If they pick up and move along, you do the same. Thanks for the memories, and focus on the future.
And finally…

3. Realize that your social media is your professional portfolio.
I’ll keep this one short and sweet. Aesthetics is an important part of what makes people like what they like and buy what they do. Every food commercial, every clothing line, every professional model is always projecting their best image on commercials, runways and in catalogues. It’s the same thing with your social media. Every picture and post that you make is what people are going to use to create their idea of who you are and what your total image is. So, before posting that pic or tweeting that tweet, make sure it’s something that you would put in a portfolio you were presenting to a job interview, or taking to a potential client. I mean really, when it comes down to it, that’s exactly what it is.

So there you have it. My sage wisdom and advice. You’re welcome. 🙂 (Disclaimer: I’m not 100% sure that I’m all that wise or really the giver of SAGE advice. But hey, it sounds pretty good eh?)

Should I go independent or Not?

Livin’ that Indy Life

Should I go the independent webcam route? Whether this is something you’ve been asking yourself or not, it’s a valid question to bring up. When first considering delving into the Independent cam world, it can be an extremely daunting task. There are so many options out there and it can almost make it seem like you’re drowning.
That’s okay, having no idea where to begin is normal.

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this in other posts or not, but I highly recommend searching around and joining cam-girl forums to learn some tricks of the trade, and be able to connect and talk with other models in the industry who can help you along if you have any questions.

Start by setting yourself up on a directory site like cammodeldirectory.com or Livecammodelshows.com. If you’re wanting to be able to charge per minute without having them pre-pay in full skyprivate.com is another option. This is a great way to start building up your clientele through the traffic that the sites have on their own.
When I finally took the plunge and jumped into going Independent, I realized that I shouldn’t have waited so damn long in the first place. Honestly, I’ve never been happier. I was a strictly Streamate girl for a long time, and when the site started to be unreliable, I decided that even though it scared the piss out of me, I was going to bite the bullet and transition as much as possible into Indy. Take control of my own destiny and all that.

I started by talking to some of my other cam girlfriends who I knew were already offering Skype shows. They knew some of the things that would make me not such a bumbling idiot the first time I attempted a show. After they gave me some tricks of the trade, I signed up for Cammodeldirectory.com. I heard great things about them having their own traffic, and figured it would be a great way to start to build up my clientele. Then I started advertising on social media, and lo and behold I got my first show!

I was crazy nervous ya’ll, I’m not even kidding. Felt like a brand new baby cam-girl all over again, but I took deep breaths, a shot of tequila, put on some gangster rap and handled that sh*t.
Truth of the matter? It was fantastic, not only did I get to keep a much higher percentage from the show so I ended up making more, but it was so freeing to not have to worry about rules of the big box site that I normally cam on. After that first show I knew that I was an Indy whore for life. I love being able to just switch my skype availability and have show offers pop up. I can watch television, read, knit, whatever the hell I want, all while I wait for someone who wants a show. Sometimes I log on my big box site and make some money while I’m waiting for a skype show to come through! (Ah! The earning potential! I can’t handle it!)

Once you’ve decided on going forward with Indy camming, it’s worth it to create a payment portal for people to book Skype shows with you in advance. Personally, I use mysecretpayments.com. (….which I’ve just started using and am LOVING it!) Setting up a payment portal gives your followers on social media an easy way to book a show with you and pay without having to jump through a million different hoops.

On top of camming on Skype, I also do a lot of Snapchat premium sales and make content to sell independently. The less I have to depend on someone else for my streams of income, the better! (I especially recommend your own payment portal if you sell extras like this; snapchat, panties, signed photos/poster/calenders etc.)

All of that being said, if you don’t have a following independent of whatever site you’re camming on, going Indy can be a struggle at first (at least until you build up your clientele) so if you do decide on dipping your toe into the wonderful pool of Indy, (which I would if I were you) I would stick it out with the site you’re on now, as well. Make it a side ho’ first, and see how you get along with each other. Just like not all cam sites are created equal, neither are cam-girls experiences with Indy. I’ve heard my fair share of stories of models that both hated and loved it. It’s really all going to come down to your personal preference. All I’m sayin’ is .. If you like expanding your money making horizons, then give it a go. What’s the worst that is going to happen?

The Webcam Troll

webcam troll

Time wasters and Trolls on Webcam

We all know them and none of us love them. They are the notorious time wasters and trolls that come in and invade our lives and our cam rooms.
We’ll start with the easy. Time wasters are exactly what they sound like. Dudes that come into your room and gobble up your time for free like it’s an all you can eat buffet special. (Excuse me? No free refills here!) They will come in your room and I’ll be honest, some of them are downright friendly as hell. They’ll get you talking and hanging out, and before you know it, a week has gone by. Then, just when you feel like you could list off all of his hobbies in chronological order because he never shuts the F*$# up, you realize…. he’s never spent a dime. Not a single penny. What in the actual hell is life.

I would love to tell you that these are far and few between, but the fact of the matter is that you will probably deal with more time wasters than any other type of person combined. It is, unfortunately, just another part of the job, comes with the territory, so it’s best if you learn how to spot them and nip them in the bud right away.

I find that the easiest way to limit the freeloaders is to explain the rules of your room, or the rules of your show by using the peanut butter and jelly method. Don’t know what that is?
The Peanut Butter and Jelly method is a way to teach people how to do things in the most extremely literal sense possible. Things that most people would omit because they assume that it is common sense, all of a sudden don’t apply.

You do the method by having all the ingredients for a tasty pb&j. Subject A is going to make it while Subject B tells them how.

Subject B: “Get two pieces of bread”

You would think that would be enough, but since Subject A has to take every instruction literally and cannot do anything extra, they have no way to get the bread out of the bag. What Subject B should have said is:

“Untie the twist tie for the loaf of bread. Open the bag. Reach in the bag and grab 2 pieces of bread. Take the bread and lay it on the plate.” It’s the same analogy with listing out what is and what is not acceptable. For example: My public email is set to send an automatic response to every email it receives. The automatic response lists a separate email to send to if they are wanting to book a skype show or order a custom video. It lists out what the email should include and when they can expect a response in return. It also tells them where to go to get merchandise such as my snapchat, posters, panties etc. And different payment options.

I cannot even begin to explain to you how helpful this has been in saving me time and energy. If people aren’t serious about purchasing your product, they probably won’t take the type to type out ANOTHER email to send to a different source, or they won’t go to the site and actually purchase the item. It’s almost like a security blanket to the emails I do receive on my other account. I know that they are sincerely interested because they have taken the time to contact me where it was stated.

The other thing you need to watch out for is when regulars being time wasters. I wish that this never happened, but it does. They will start hanging out in your room, and I honestly think that sometimes they feel like they are your friend so they don’t need to tip anymore. They forget that you’re working. Take it as a compliment, you’re so damn good at hustling these guys that they forget you’re even doing a job! (But even when you take it as a compliment, remind them that they can either pay room rent or they can GTFO)

On top of the horrible time wasters, you can also count on the notorious trolls to come through with their talons, trying to bash everything in sight and leave you in a bloody, guts everywhere, heaping mess on the floor. Sometimes they are so good at finding that one thing that is your weak spot that it’s almost unbelievable.

The only thing that I can really tell you is that you need to develop a thick skin to be a cam model. There’s no way around it, if you are sensitive then they will sense it and they will come into your room, and they will eat you alive. You’ll be curled up in a crying, sobbing mess at the end of the night. You need to grow a pair, build up those walls and keep them reinforced with mother f*%$ing nuclear weapons. You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT give a damn about what other people are going to be saying about you. They will pick on everything, even if it isn’t true. IF you give them a reaction, then you are doing exactly what they want.

If you want to have some real fun with trolls, when they come in your room, play along with whatever they are saying. Turn it around on them so that your entire room is laughing at them. It works surprisingly well. The trolls either leave because you are un-trollable or sometimes (and this is my favorite) they turn into paying customers. Now I’ll drink to that. I’m all about them conversions, baby.

Keep in mind that both time wasters and trolls will always be a part of camming. Without them, we would take for granted the genuinely amazing clients that cross our paths. With them we are stronger and more bad ass bitches who ain’t nothin’ to F*%& with.

The different types of Webcam Girls

webcam girl life

Different types of cam-girls.

The Anonymous Cam-girl: A model who likes to stay anonymous, log-on, make that money and then be done for the day. They may run a twitter account or an Instagram, but usually keep it private and don’t promote much, other than to have a place where their regulars and fans can find them and keep in touch outside of their cam times.

The “CeWEBrity” Cam-girl: A model that wants to create a brand and maximize earning potential/accessibility etc., by creating a demand for that brand.

Both types are bad ass bitches who hustle and make those dollar, dollar bills ya’ll (can I get an AMEN!?) However, for the sake of me saving you time (since we all know that time is money) I’m going to put a DISCLAIMER on this one.

This article is going to be focusing on branding; specifically through cross promotion, so if you’re wanting to slay that anonymous lifestyle, you might not find much to help you out here. (Except for the endorphins that reading this will no doubt create.)

Moving on….

In my opinion, cross promotion is hands down one of the most important aspects to branding and all around brand awareness, which will result increased sales of your product. (Your product being your content, your cam shows and most important of them all: YOU)

Personally, I am on the following social medias:

*Twitter

*Instagram

*Snapchat

*Periscope

*Tumblr

I know what some of you are thinking. Why so many? That sounds like it will take a lot of time that could be spent camming or doing other things. While I agree that it is time consuming (and secretly I hate all social media) it’s a necessary evil to both the demand and accessibility of your brand.

If you aren’t already, I highly recommend being on every platform possible. (save for Facebook, but that’s a whole different article)

This brings me to my next point. The basics of economics, supply and demand. The supply is your product and the demand is created by you.

In this day and age, and especially in the adult industry you MUST create your own demand. Nobody else is going to do it for you, and this is a situation where the phrase “I get out of it what I put into it” should be your mantra.

Nobody knows what they want to buy until you tell them. Why is the iPhone so popular? They build up to the release date. Apple creates the demand and then supplies the product. You should be doing the same thing and the way to do it is free. Cross Promotion.

Here’s an average day for me on social media:

Step 1.) Say good morning on Snapchat and let them know I’ll be on Periscope in 10 min (insert Periscope name and twitter handle so they know where to go)

Step 2.) Get on Periscope and live broadcast for a few minutes. Right when I am about to log off I tell them to follow me on Snapchat if they want to see what I’m doing through the day. If I’m about to go live on cam I tell them where they can go sign up to keep hanging out with me. (Make sure you aren’t spamming, the key is subtlety.)

Step 3.) Log onto Twitter and have promoters RT “Live Periscope stream” and quote the tweet myself saying if they missed me, to follow so they catch it next time! This will get more people to re-play my broadcast, give me hearts and increase my popularity making the broadcast reach more people.

Step 4.) Post a pic on Snapchat saying the same thing “Miss me on Periscope? Broadcast is still available! Go watch it now!”

Step 5.) Save the pic from Snapchat and post on Instagram telling them to follow my twitter and add me on Periscope so they can talk with me live.

Step 6) Posting on Snapchat/Twitter/Instagram through the day with links to where they can find me on other platforms. (Ex. Post a pic on Twitter and write the link to your instagram. Post a pic on Instagram and tell them where to find you on Twitter.)

Step 7.) End the night with an after cam session on Periscope. (these can be quick. 5-10 minutes) Saying goodnight, having inside jokes with the guys who were hanging out in my cam room.. Creating demand of people wanting to have the same type of “friendship” with me.

… you get the idea. Everything is connected and people want to feel like they know you. Branding is all about injecting personality in a product and YOU are the product that you will be convincing them to invest in. (and yes, I use the word invest. To you it’s a purchase.. To everyone who is parting with that $10-$50-$100, it’s an investment of their money to receive something they are hoping will be worth it in the long run, and will continue to invest in if it is. There is an initial risk factor for the buyer that should always be taken into consideration.)

All of that being said, there are a few important things to remember. You MUST master the art of subtle selling. Don’t push it in their faces, and don’t only post links to where they can purchase products. People don’t invest in desperation, the invest in something that everyone wants.

The trick is to create the illusion that everything is their idea, while always keeping it fresh in their minds. Subliminal Perception, if you will. Ever hear about how back in the old days they would insert quick flashes of Coca-cola products or a picture of popcorn in movie previews? It would happen so fast you wouldn’t consciously know that you were seeing it, however some studies showed that it would increase the volume in sales at the concession stands. They did the same thing in World War II, with subliminal messaging by using a tachistoscope (a machine that projects images extremely briefly and rapidly) to teach soldiers how to spot enemy planes.

Cross promotion is, in essence, the same idea. By constantly putting yourself in their faces, it will create a sense of familiarity in their mind. You’ll notice people start to WANT to see you in their faces, so much so that they will start putting you in OTHER peoples’ faces, who will then want to find out more about you and see if they also want you all up in their grill. Alas, with cross promotion you have created a virtual snowball effect.

Damn, see all that demand? You created that ish. Now be proud and keep yourself there.

Show me your Tits BB

please show tits bb

Nothing is free on Webcam.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, and I’ve heard it a thousand times before. “The best things in life are free.” In real life? Maybe. (although I’m going to come in with a strong #debatable). In Cam life? NOTHING IS FREE.

Let’s just get all of the silly questions out of the way now, so we can delve into the truth of the subject.

“What about smiles?” … While it’s true that smiles may not be paid for with cash, tokens or gold (Although it might work if you DO charge for it) they are most certainly paid for with your soul that will inevitably be sucked out piece by excruciating piece from dealing with the gigantic F*$% Boys that you have to deal with on a daily basis. (“Ass BB.. Open tits BB.. Show me a preview and then Private BB)… but I digress.

“If I tease for free then maybe they will pay for it!” Nope. No. NOOOOO. Don’t fall into this trap, beauties. There is so much out there for you, and money is at the head of the pack. Would you ask a clothing store to give you a free shirt so you could test it out before you buy it? How about asking a restaurant if you could try a small version of their entrée dish for free? Pretty sure they would laugh in your face and walk away. At least, that’s what I would do.. In fact, it IS what I do anytime some entitled jerk comes into my cam room and tries to get the milk for free. Repeat after me, ladies and gents. “NO, the cow is NOT for sale and the milk is NEVER free.”

The fact of the matter is that you are providing a luxury service. The key word to remember there is LUXURY. If you are out of their price range than you are also out of their league. (Awe..can’t afford a show? Better start saving up to give yourself a nice big birthday gift!)

Here’s what you do. Sit down, write out a list of what you know you will get asked for and then price out what you’re comfortable charging for each individual thing. Don’t second guess yourself!! If you want to charge high, charge high! This ain’t Walmart, and you don’t need to roll back your prices. The way I see it, it’s better to start your prices higher and lower them if you need, rather than setting the bar low and having to explain to people why your prices are being raised.

Flash? $5

Spanks? $3/spank

Twerk? $15

Blocking them when they continue to try and get it for free? Priceless.

You get the idea. Don’t sell yourself short! If you have people trying to get things for free than you either convert them into a paying customer or you cut the gigantic, pathetic freeloading cord that is their life. (#ByeFelicia)

Have I drilled that into your head enough?

Good.

So here comes the other side of things. Some people that you’re going to encounter like to sip on that haterade that is their miserable existence and call it juice. These people will be climbin’ in your windows, snatchin’ that free pussy up, so ya’ll better hide your girls, hide your sin-caves and hide your emotions cause they monetarily rapin’ er’body up in here.

Common phrases include, but are not limited to:

“I’m just asking because OTHER models do it for this price.”

“If you showed more for free, then more people would tip in”

“But I’ve given you so much money already!”

“You’re expensive”

(Side note: If you didn’t read that in an obnoxiously whiny voice, take it back one time and try again)

If you haven’t already figured it out, these people are idiots. They aren’t worth your time, and more often than not they are either trying to get you to lose your cool, or they are honestly ignorant enough to believe that you would show them something for free… and for what? Because they think they deserve it? Girl, please. You control your room and if you give away the goose, you give away the gander. (The goose being YOU and the gander in this case being the control)

Let’s face it. This is a job that comes with the vulnerability of exposing parts of yourself that most people would never dream of exposing, let alone have the courage to show even their closest of friends. There is a risk involved, there is the knowledge that everything you do while the cam is turned on has the possibility of being posted on the internet ANYWHERE and being seen by literally ANYONE. (If you don’t think this is the case, you are severely naive, and I recommend you research some more about what career choice you’re making before deciding on anything.)

Taking all of these things into consideration, I think we can all agree that we have the right, NAY, the duty to charge for any and all of the services and products that we provide.

Including the pleasure of our sparkling personalities. 🙂

I’ll leave you with this. Ultimately, the decision whether to give away teases and freebies is up to you. It’s your world and we’re all just living in it. All I’m preaching here is that you should never let anyone devalue you as not only a product, but also as a model.

…and hey, I’m not saying to stand up and say to the world “I have the Pussy, so I make the rules. Pay to play or get the F*&$ out”

…but I’m also not NOT saying that.

Dealing with the Webcam F*ckboys

fuck boy

“Hey baby, can I just get some nudes real quick, please? Pleasee? Pleeeeaaaassseee?”

F*#& Boys are the worst. They are taking over the world and the worst part about it is that they are evolving and are disguising themselves . Sometimes they’ll even trick you into thinking that they aren’t a f*$& boy by buying something! But, one way or another, every F*$& Boy’s true colors show.

F**k Boy Number One:

The F*$% BOY Fan

I logged onto my Instagram the other day only to be bombarded with a million messages from a million different “promoters” who were asking me if I wanted a shout out. Now, I’m new to the Instagram world but I have a couple of pages that promote me regularly out of the goodness of their heart. They must genuinely like the look that I will bring to their page, I suppose. So, when I respond with a “sure! Thanks!” I can always assume that they are going to write back with one of two things. One will be them thanking me and saying they are going to take pics off my page. The other response is something along the lines of “can u send personal nudes?” or “you have a snapchat?” (I’ll delve into the snapchat f**ck boys in just a moment, as they are a breed all on their own.)

It’s not just Instagram that you can run into these little posers, they exist on every platform you can think of. Twitter has them, Instagram, Snapchat, probably Periscope.. Although I haven’t personally encountered them there.

Read this next part carefully because I want it to really sink in. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE FREE THINGS FOR PEOPLE TO PROMOTE YOU. This really shouldn’t ever be a give/take situation. There are plenty of quality promoters around that will promo you without asking for anything more than maybe the occasional fan-sign. If someone is asking you for anything from a free pic to a free skype show, tell them to go F off and die.

Those are what I like to call F**ck Boy Fans. They are dumb, immature little twits who think that because they are a fan of the industry that they will be able to take advantage of the women who are actually in the industry.

F**ck BOY Number Two:

The Snapchat F$%*Boy

I’m sure that by now we are all aware of Snapchat Takeovers and how they work. They tend to vary from snapchat to snapchat. Myself personally, I only do takeovers when they allow me to have control for a

full day. I don’t do really well with schedules so I hate being tied down to a 2 hour time period. (I want them to know me, damnit!) I also don’t ever do full shows, I only do the snapchats that are for me to promote my brand.

That being said, with the Snapchat phenomenon there is a whole new breed of F**ck Boy that we now have to deal with.

These silly little boys think that because they have a Snapchat and can get a couple of rookie girls to take them over, that they are all of a sudden in the actual adult industry. Give me a break. *eyeroll*

Worse than that, they will come at you with all kinds of things. Telling you about “how the industry works” (uhhhh…hello? Are you really trying to explain how the industry that MY CAREER IS IN works?! Are you stupid?) and more often than not they will talk to you like you are a dumb girl who doesn’t know anything.

Personal example: I was contacted on Tumblr by someone asking me to do a takeover. I asked who they were and how many followers they had? They responded and I told them that I was willing but I wanted it for a whole day. Get ready for this part… he came back with “A whole day? HA! Maybe 8 hours tops, anything more than that and you’ll have to pay” …….

………..

I felt like that needed a moment of silence.

Bro, you asked me to do the takeover, not the other way around. Why would I PAY you? Who the F**ck are you?

Someone else tried to get me to takeover their account, do a full cumshow that THEY were charging people for. HA! Give me a break.

Ladies, when you encounter a snapchat F**ck Boy, please give them the reminder that they aren’t actually in the adult industry, and that they can go suck on some balls.

F**ck Boy Number Three

COCKY F*$% BOY

I don’t know about you, but I find these to be the most annoying out of the bunch. They are constantly saying things like “aye girl, I got you baby! You soooo fine, keep doing what you do. Wanna fuck? I got a big 10 inch schlong and I can rock your world.” Oh yeah? You’ve got a 10 incher? You and everybody else that I’ve talked to in the past 30 minute. It’s a good old fashioned dick off!!You’d think they would realize that we don’t actually give a damn what they look like as long as they have the money to pay. You want me to call you a big boy and talk about how you’re the best damn thing I’ve ever seen? Pay up, pretty.

F**ck BOY Number Four

The Cam F*$% BOY

Slightly less prominent but not any less annoying, the dude who comes in your room and goes “Hey, I’m a cam model on here too, we should do a show together!”

Err… how about no? First of all, super unprofessional and second, why would I want to do a show with you? Does that line actually work on literally anyone? I cannot imagine a scenario where a girl would be like “Hell yeah! Sign me up! Here’s my name and number, my address is this if you wanna come on over next week and fingerbang me in front of a webcam!’ Sounds great!”

Ew. There’s just so much NO happening right now.

Whichever way you want to break it down, F**ck Boys are here, and although they can disappear for a while, they will always come back with force. Learn how to have witty banter and make them feel like an idiot, or better yet convert them into paying customers, which we all know is the only acceptable form of F**ck Boy there is.

Cam Model Forum Etiquette

There are tons of forums out there, maybe you have experience with most of them, but then again maybe you don’t. Hey, I’m not one to judge. At least until you start to wile out like you’re the mean girl in a 1980’s movie. (Trust me girl, that is never okay and people WILL be laughing at you if you’re actin’ a fool on forums for everyone to see.)

On a serious note, if you haven’t ever checked out forums, there are some that can be really helpful. Just a quick google search and you will be able to open up a world that you never knew existed. An entire community of other sex workers that support each other and become lifelong friends. There are forums out there that let you interact with your fans and create new fans with a really immersive community type feel, and industry forums where you can network with hundreds of industry moguls.

That being said, there are definitely things that you need to take into consideration when you’re deciding to sign up and become an active member.

Before starting a new thread to start a topic or ask a question, make sure that the answer isn’t already out there in another thread.

I have seen newbies on forums torn apart because they didn’t take the time to look around and read the previous threads, or do any research on their own. I hate to say it, but most of the time it’s a thread started about the simplest question, where the answer has been talked about a million times already.

Here’s the deal. All of us take the time to get on these forums and give advice, offer support, share our tricks and tips with people (newbies to the cam game included) so it’s almost like a slap in the face when someone comes on the forum that no one has ever heard of and doesn’t take the time to put a little work into figuring out some things about breaking into the cam industry on their own.

Don’t take it personal. You need to understand that it seems as though every other week there is a wave of new cam girls that come barreling in thinking that it’s all rainbows, sunshine and butterflies shooting out of our asses, over here. They think they’re going to make $3000 their first week out, and all it takes is an ass smack or a titty shake.

Pro Tip: Just because you’re pretty and cute and all the boys in your high school wanted to bang you, doesn’t mean that you’re going to succeed as a cam model. So for someone to walk in and expect us to give them the secrets to success like it’s a spirit stick from Bring It On (the original, obviously) is insulting. If we all did it the hard way, so can you. Especially since you might not last more than 2 months once you realize it really isn’t all that easy. At the end of the day, every model is our competition and the fact that we all decide to get on and share trade secrets should be respected, not taken for granted.

Use your time wisely, read the forum and comment in other threads for a few months before starting your own. Become a part of the community and you’re going to have a much better result.

Always make sure to read the TOS for the forum.

This sounds like an easy one to remember, and maybe it is and people just decide to break the rules, but either way please do yourself a favor and make sure that you know what is and isn’t allowed to be talked about before you start rambling off at the fingertips.

Understand what type of forum you are on

If you’re on a forum where there’s a group of sex workers that all talk and support each other, make sure you aren’t posting threads and trying to spam for promotion or with referral links to your affiliate sites/items. That’s rude, and disrespects the safe space that they have created and culminated for so long.

If you’re on a forum where the key point is to interact with fans, then make sure that you are actually taking the time to talk one on one with them (Great example: FreeOnes) and utilizing the platform to recruit new fans and build some solid relationships. That’s why the guys are on there, to be able to talk to their favorite porn stars/adult models, not to just read post after post about what’s new on your website that they should join.

If you’re on an Industry forum make sure that you are keeping it professional. Everyone enjoys a good laugh, but if you start spouting off without regret, you will create a bad name for yourself very quickly, word will spread and people will not want to work with you. You never know when you’re going to need connections so networking is a really important piece to building any career. Don’t burn bridges unnecessarily.

Treat everyone with R-E-S-P-E-C-T

I feel like this one should definitely go without saying, but *sigh* some people these days just don’t know how to do this. I’ve said this before and gotten the “Well, you have to give respect to get it” line. Everybody deserves respect to start with, until they give you a reason to take it away. So when someone is genuinely trying to help you, or pointing something out about a rule on the forum, don’t respond with a snarky comeback.

Take all advice (yes even constructive criticism) and use it to improve. Whether it’s by NOT using the advice given or by actually using it. It still will teach you what/what not to do… and we can always be improving our craft.

So go out there and start to network and become part of the forum world communities. If you need a list of the top webcam forums for webcam models, you can click here. There is a lot of fun that you can have and a lot that you can learn. Just don’t be a giant twat waffle about it.

Converting Guys into Customers on Webcam

Convert: Cause to change in form, character or function.

Converting customers is the most important part of your job as a cam model. Without conversions you wouldn’t have anyone. Just think.. Every paying client you have ever had is a conversion. Maybe not from you, but someone else was able to convince them to start spending money. If you don’t make converting customers one of your strongest skill sets than you are absolutely not fulfilling your full potential of a sales goddess.

When you strip away all the lace, frill and dildos, that’s what your job really is. A sales job. In fact, it’s one of the most challenging sales jobs that you could have. A car salesman sells a car because people have to pay to have one. People don’t have to pay for sex. They can get it for free all over the internet and in real life, so it’s up to you to convince them to not only pay for their fap material, but to make you BE that fap material.

My number one recommendation is to always be reading. Research and read books on sales techniques, how to win arguments, psychology on how the brain works, anything that you can think of that will help mold your sales craft into a force to be reckoned with.

Here are a few pro tips to get you started:

1) The Art of Subtle Selling

It doesn’t matter how many followers you have on Twitter, if all you do is post links to your content or your cam site and expect people to just click on the link and buy it every time, you are out of your mind. People don’t want to feel like they are being told to do something. In order to get people to want to purchase your product, they have to first believe in the product. Especially when you are selling yourself, you will get a much higher conversion rate if you spend some time letting them feel like they are getting to know you. Talk with them, have inside jokes, let them into a little bit of your life so they feel like they have a connection beyond the links that you tell them to click.

From there it’s always easier to make a sale. By building connections, you are building brand loyalty, which will make you more popular in the long run. The more popular you are, the easier high volume conversions become. People want what everyone wants, and to make anyone want you, you have to be real to them.

Once you start showing your personality by talking with them, letting them see some of your day on snapchat, hanging out in your cam room, then you’ll be able to start soft selling everything without making them feel like you are pushing for a sale.

“Man, I don’t know why no one in here has gotten my tits out. Whats up with that? I know you want to see them, they’re F**cking phenomenal”

This will create the feeling of them having the idea to tip you for a flash. The key word is their. Was it really their idea? Of course not. You just created the illusion of them coming up with the thought of “Hey, why hasn’t anyone tipped her to flash us? I would definitely want to see her gorgeous, amazing, succulent breasts.” Okay, maybe they wouldn’t think it in those exact words, but you get my point.

Alright, that was a really obvious example but you get what I’m trying to say, don’t you? You don’t always have to say “Let’s go exclusive” You can be creative with it and make them think that it’s their idea. You’ll end up converting people who never would have dreamed of spending their money.

2) You Giveth and You Taketh Away

This is one of my personal favorite tricks. Back when I was a bartender I used this all the time on my bar guests and it worked flawlessly. In a cam room, it works even better.

I’m going to use snapchat as an example, but this will work in any aspect. I keep my snapchat public except for when I switch it to private settings for my premium members. I only allow my premium members to send me messages, but every once in awhile I will announce that I’m going to open up my snaps to chat.

I always get bombarded with messages, and I really just hang out with them and chat back and forth. I don’t mention anything about them buying premium, or purchasing any of my content. After we’ve gotten into the really great parts of the conversation, I close my snaps. Right before I close them I let them know that talking to them was fun and if they were a premium member they would be able to chat with me anytime they wanted, and then I let them know where they can go to buy it.

I do the same thing with Gold Shows on Streamate. I will start a countdown, but if it doesn’t hit my goal then I don’t do gold shows for the rest of the week. This way it lets the guys know that I don’t have to offer them a discounted show, and that I’ll only continue if they make sure to make it worth my while.

This method has always resulted in sales for me. You giveth and then you taketh away. They will want that sunshine to warm them up again, so they’ll pay for it now that they know what it feels like.

3) Hard Sell/Soft Sell

I like to alternate my sales techniques. I’ve messed around with a million different ways to convert new people and the one that works best for me is an on week and an off week of alternating between hard selling and soft selling. The first week I will be constantly pushing my links in their faces, reminding them about where to go and what to buy. Basically, I’m making it impossible for them to forget, opening up my snaps and chatting, running specials and deals. Then the next week I back off, and rarely mention it. Instead of telling them how to buy premium snapchat, I simply let them know that I’m switching over to premium. I’ll make comments about a new video that I’m making, or how much I love getting to read the

custom scripts I get. I’ll open up my snaps and tell people to message me if they have questions about anything, but I don’t elaborate.

By teasing with what they could have but keeping the access to it just out of their reach, almost like they have to work for it, can make them want to have it that much more. Then, when you do give out the information, people will dive for it like it’s the last drop of water in the Sahara, simply because they don’t know when they are going to get it again.

Wax on, wax off young grasshopper.
