Webcam Modeling vs OnlyFans

OnlyFans vs the tried and true live cams. This is the topic of today’s article. Lately, it seems that everyone wants to be a cam model, and as someone who does this for a living, I’ve been on so many sites trying to create content that sells. It took me a long time to make this a full-time job, and like many cam models, it wasn’t easy for me to build up a fanbase and start making money.

Here’s the thing, though. There are a lot of porn sites out there where you can do sexual acts and get paid. Whether it’s a live broadcast, virtual strip clubs, or a camming website, there are risks involved. However, you can also earn money…a significant amount of money…as long as your audience is happy.

Webcam Modeling vs OnlyFans

Since I’ve been doing this for several years now, I think I can tell you on a personal level that this type of work isn’t for everyone. But, if you are a person who likes to stream, loves to have sex, wants to interact with other people online, and control their work schedule, grab your laptop computer and camera, because I’m going to help you decide which path is right for you here in the camming industry.

What is a Webcam Model? Should You Be an OnlyFans Creator?

When most people think of being a cam model, they think of OnlyFans. I’ve done it, it was okay, but there are definitely better ways to make money in my opinion. However, most people know about it, so I’ll start with this, first.

OnlyFans works by modeling, doing cam shows, selling content, and more. Your fans will subscribe to your broadcast channel, and they pay money to access things like photos and videos.

People can make a lot of money on OnlyFans, as your income comes from subscribers, PPV (pay-per-view), tips when you broadcast live, and private chats. Some users will want you performing non-stop while others are viewers who just want to watch you masturbate. I did a lot of intimate chats, and even made friends, by engaging with viewers.

Is Being an OnlyFans Webcam Model a Good Option?

Though it is possible to make a lot of money on OnlyFans, you have to market yourself constantly. There is a lot of competition, and customers tend to get bored very quickly. You can’t just sit there and bring in viewers for free.

You have work, for example, constantly update your socials, you have to keep a very strong and fast internet connection, you have to find the hours where traffic is high, and you have to contend with viewer comments because if you don’t respond, people become offended.

Camming vs OnlyFans – Is it Better?

I mentioned that I used to cam on OnlyFans, but I’ve definitely found more success on other platforms, specifically Camsoda and Streamate. This is where I have been most successful, and I have way more visibility than I used to have. In fact, I’ve been helping other models get more income, too, and the women I work with can honestly start up an account almost anywhere in the world and find success.

These other sites are much more relaxed than OnlyFans, I don’t have to keep up with all of the marketing on sites like Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter), and I’m making relationships that feel more real and genuine. As much as this is my job, it’s also how I support my family and my life. Do I use my real name? No, but that doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying every performance or love being able to spend time with some of my favorite fans.

Is Camming on Adult Social Media Sites or Premium Sites Worth It?

Honestly, I make a lot more doing sites like Camsoda than I ever did on OnlyFans. I think that’s important because when I start to talk to people about what I do, they automatically think OnlyFans. That site is not the only place to make earnings. I feel like on these other sites, the world is my stage, and if you’ve seen my work on the web, you know I love to perform, especially when intimacy is involved.

Some Final Words of Wisdom

Ultimately, the choice is yours. Is OnlyFans bad? Nope! I just prefer other sites for my work. They are easy to join, I see a lot of growth, and I have more fun.

If you are going to work on one of these sites, you must have clients. Consider doing some free shows, share links of your content pasted elsewhere, and do fun things to tease your audience like dancing, dress in revealing clothing, and most importantly, determine what the demand is. Your target customer might want something totally different than mine.

Finally, I suggest getting an account on some of these sites as a viewer and see what the other people are doing there to succeed. It’s very easy to see the most popular channels on these cam sites. Good luck, and I’ll see you online.

I've been a fulltime webcam girl for 6 years now. I've used a range of different webcam sites, apps and everything else. I enjoy the business because I am able to set my own schedule. I started howareyoubb to help people avoid some of the missteps I made while starting out.
