CamSoda Review

Camsoda Review

CamSoda is a newer, but popular live cam site. Below I rate them in several different categories, giving them a score in each category out of 10. Out of 60 possible points, I gave them 56/60, with an average score of 9.33. They excelled in every category, really only losing a few points for being so new and still having things to work on.

Features 8/10:

CamSoda is still new, so there is room for improvement. But with that said, they still have some great features in place to help models earn money. Of course the main point of the site is live cam shows. They make it easy for you to get started broadcasting yourself. All you need is a decent laptop or desktop computer, fast internet connection (preferably wired in), and a webcam. You will also need a valid photo ID and a clear picture of yourself holding your ID next to your face. This is used as a verification process when you first create your account and is needed for account approval.

CamSoda is a token based cam site. This means the currency used on the site is tokens. You are paid $0.05 for every token you’re given by fans. This makes 20 tokens equivalent to $1.00. Like Myfreecams, most models collect tokens by having countdowns until they do certain things (remove bra, remove panties, oil show, cum show, etc.). You can also do private shows. The default rate for private shows is set at 30 tokens per minute, which comes out to $1.50/minute. But you can change your rate to whatever you’re most comfortable with. When you’re in a private show, members can spy on the show. They won’t be able to chat, just watch. The default rate for spy shows is 12 tokens per minute, or $0.60/minute.

Besides doing live cam shows, there are other ways you can earn money on CamSoda… even when you’re not online! You can sell premade photosets and videos on your profile. You set all of your own prices. If you use ChatStar, which is an adult phone service, you can list your ChatStar link on your profile as well. CamSoda also lets models link to their Amazon wishlist right from their profile. Fans are able to go to your wishlist and spoil you that way.

CamSoda wants you to be healthy, which is why they created a Wellness Program. Models are eligible for the Wellness Program after they’ve been on the site for 6 months or more. Models who gross $3,500 – $6,999 on a monthly basis and provide proof of health insurance will receive a $65 monthly bonus. Models who gross over $7,000 on a monthly basis and provide proof of health insurance will receive a $125 monthly bonus.

Profits & Traffic 8/10:

As more and more models have begun to make the switch to CamSoda, their traffic has greatly increased. Some big name porn stars have been featured on the site recently, which is great for getting more people to sign-up. Brandi Love, Dakota Skye, Tory Lane, and more have really helped launch the site and grow their traffic. CamSoda is also on top of their social media game. They have a Twitter account with over 24K followers and growing! They frequently do shoutouts for models who cam on their site and will retweet you if you tag them in a tweet.

As I mentioned in the features section, there are other ways for you to make money on CamSoda besides from just doing live cam shows. You can also sell your photosets and videos, list your Chatstar profile, and have your Amazon wishlist on your profile.

Ease Of Using & Navigating The Site 10/10:

CamSoda is easy to use on both the models end and the users end. I’ve browsed the site, but I never actually cammed on it before. So to get a feel for the models side of things, I signed-up. The sign-up process was quick and easy. You fill out some basic info, “sign” an electronic agreement, submit your photo ID and headshot holding your ID, and that’s it! I was done within 5 minutes and told that account approval takes about 24 hours. Once approved, I scoped out the Dashboard. It has everything you need to get your profile and cam show set up, and it’s super easy to navigate and figure out.

The site is equally as easy to use for the guys browsing models on the site. They can easily access your room, chat with you, view your profile, etc.

Payments & Cashouts 10/10:

CamSoda offers several different payout methods. The first way you can get paid is by a check in the mail. There is no fee associated with a check, and the minimum payout is $0. You can also choose to have funds directly deposited into your bank account through ACH/bank transfer. There is also no fee and the minimum payout is $0. The third way to get paid is Paxum. For Paxum, there is also no fee and the minimum payout is $0. The final way to get paid is by wire transfer. This is for both international (non-US) and US models. There is no fee, but the minimum payout is $500. Payments go out every single week.

Privacy Protection & Geo-Blocking 10/10:

CamSoda is top notch when it comes to privacy protection and geo-blocking. You can rest assured that their site is secure and none of your personal information will get leaked. As far as regional blocking goes, you are able to block by state and/or country. This is good for models who are trying to prevent people they know from finding out what they do and viewing their cam. If you have a specific state or country blocked, no one accessing CamSoda from that area will be able to view your cam or your profile.

Customer Service & Support 10/10:

I personally haven’t contacted support for anything, but I’ve heard from other cam models on the site that the support team is quick and knowledgable. If you have a question about something or you notice a bug on the site, they are quick to answer you and/or fix the problem.

Video Review of Cam Soda

Overview:

Overall I feel like CamSoda is a good cam site. They are growing quickly and already have a lot of features to help models succeed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them develop into one of the top cam sites in the very near future!

Offering Adult Skype Shows

Profiting from Selling Skype Shows

Skype is a great platform for offering live adult shows. Some models have reservations about using Skype because they’re scared of getting ripped off. But there are adult-friendly payment processors out there that you can use to prevent getting scammed.

The first is SkyPrivate, and they are a great choice to go with. You can use SkyPrivate to charge your fans per minute for Skype shows. All you have to do is download and install their plugin. It counts the minutes you’re on Skype with each customer, and bills them per minute. There’s also the option for the customer to prepay for a show and send you the full payment beforehand. If it’s done that way, you’re responsible for ending the call after the agreed upon time. You choose your own per minute rate, and can change it at any time. You can also set it up so that different customers are charged different prices. This can be useful if you have a customer who does frequent shows and you want to offer them a discounted price.

Aside from just the payment processing part, their platform shows you up to the minute statistics. They also create a profile page for you that you can use to advertise on social media. They have a built-in widget to create promo banners too. When you first sign-up with SkyPrivate, you keep 75% of everything you make. But you can keep up to 80% by referring paying members or models.

The next option you can use to accept payments for your Skype shows is Paxum. They’re similar to PayPal, but they’re adult friendly. Getting started with them is easy, and cashing out is easy as well. They charge a withdraw fee, but that is the only charge associated with them. To receive your payment via check, there is only a $5 fee. To withdraw via wire transfer, there is a $50 fee. I’ve always received my payments by check, and have never had a problem. They generally get to me within 5 days of cashing out.

Some camming sites, such as Myfreecams, let you advertise on their platform that you do Skype shows. You can charge your customer the currency on that camming site beforehand, and then do the Skype show either right away or whenever you and your customer are both free. Putting it on your camming profile that you do Skype shows and mentioning it occasionally while you’re on cam is a great way to get the word out there about your Skype shows.

One thing you never want to do is accept PayPal. They are not adult friendly and your account will be permanently banned the second they find out what you’re doing. Any funds you have in your account will be held for months before you can withdraw them. And PayPal will not let you create a new account with them. Besides that, you can easily get scammed if you use PayPal. Your fan can pay for a show, do the show with you, and then call their bank and ask for a chargeback. Since you can’t prove what you were offering (since anything adult is against PayPal’s TOS), your customer will get his money back and you will have done that show for free.

When done correctly, offering adult Skype shows can be very profitable. A lot of guys prefer Skype over other camming platforms because it feels more personal. Also the video quality is often better and there isn’t a delay in sound.

Myfreecams site review

Myfreecams in depth review

MyFreeCams or ‘MFC’ as its often referred to is one of the most popular live cam sites out there. Below I rate them in several different categories, giving them a score in each category out of 10. Out of 60 possible points, I gave them 58/60, with an average score of 9.66. They excelled in every category!

How Much Experience Do You Have With The Site?
I spent about 4 months camming on MFC.

Features 10/10:
Myfreecams has many features that they offer their models in order to help them succeed. The first is the built-in software that you use to broadcast your cam. It helps keep you organized while on cam by making everything you need easily accessible to you. There are many features within the software that you can edit and change every time you login. Some of the features include: video quality, sound settings, customizing your font, choosing who can send you PM’s, muting/unmuting basics and guests, and choosing if you want to accept Private, TruePrivate, or Group Show requests. From the software, you can also resize the screen where you watch yourself on cam, see a list of users in your room, check your chat room, start a countdown, and check your PM’s in separate tabs.

The majority of models on MFC spend most of their time in free chat. They start countdowns that must be met in order to do certain actions: remove bra, get completely naked, blow job show, cum show, etc. You can also offer a few different private shows that only members who pay into them can join. The first is a regular Private show. Your fan is charged 60 tokens a minute, which means you earn $3/minute. For these shows, other members can pay to “spy” on the show. They won’t be able to chat with you, but they can watch what you’re doing. It costs 20 tokens per minute to spy on a show, which means you earn $1/minute per user spying. A TruePrivate costs 80 tokens per minute, earning you $4/minute. These shows are one-on-one. No one can spy on these shows. The final kind of private show is a Group Show. If 3 or more members request a Group Show from a model at the same time, the model can choose to start one. You’ll be taken into a private room with everyone who is paying to be in the Group Show. Members are charged 10 tokens per minute, earning you $0.50/minute per user. You can choose to end a Group Show whenever you want. The Group Show will also end automatically once all paying members leave the show. You can even earn money while you’re off cam! Members can tip you while you’re offline from your profile.

With MFC, your profile is fully customizable. You can update colors, add graphics, links, pretty much anything you want! If you don’t know HTML or CSS, there are a lot of websites out there with premade layouts for you to use. Some are free and some you can pay for to have it customized exactly how you want. Some cam sites don’t allow you to mention your social media accounts. MFC is different. You can post the link to your website, Twitter, Amazon wishlist, etc.

Members are able to message you through MFC Mail when you’re online or offline. This feature is kind of like email and can be used to send pics/vids, discuss details of a private show, or chat about anything really. There is also a PM (private message) feature. Most models charge a fee for allowing guys to be added to their friends list, which then allows them to PM you. PM’s can be easily viewed in separate tabs while you’re online to privately communicate with fans on your friends list.

Every month, MFC holds the Miss MyFreeCams competition. The top 100 models who earn the most tokens during the month receive cash prizes ranging from $100 to $1000! The model in first place also gets a golden crown at the top of her profile photo and a one-of-a-kind 14k gold pendant.

A few other features include cam2cam, which allows you to watch a members webcam feed. Most models charge for this. When you’re online, you can assign a room helper. The room helper can update the room topic, mute/unmute guests and basics, ban/unban members, and modify countdowns. Since it’s your room, you are notified of any changes the room helper makes and you can reverse them or remove them as your room helper at any time. This feature comes in handy if you’re doing a show that involves you being away from your keyboard. For example a shower/bath show, oil show, dancing, etc.

Profits & Traffic 10/10:
MFC is the largest live cam site in the industry. There are over 15 million users registered on MFC and they get more than double that in unique visitors per month. Some of the highest paid cam models come from MFC. The top girls are pulling in over $700K a year, and many models make over $10K a month.

MFC is a token based cam site. Members purchase tokens and then send those tokens to models. You earn $0.05 per token. MFC handles most refunds and chargebacks without having to take any money back from the model.

Checking your earnings is made easy by MFC. When you’re on cam, all of your token stats for that session are displayed for you to see. You can easily see your overall tokens earned, how much each member has tipped, and how much you’ve earned from private/group/spy/tips. From your model dashboard, you can also see how much you’ve earned by day, month, and specific user.

If you put in the time and effort to cam regularly, positively engage with your fans, build relationships, and genuinely have fun, MFC can be incredibly profitable for you. And if you truly enjoy what you do, it won’t even feel like work most days.

Ease Of Using & Navigating The Site 9/10:
Everything you need can be accessed through your model dashboard. When you first look at it, it can be kind of overwhelming. There is definitely a learning curve to remembering where everything is. While you’re waiting to get your account approved, you should take some time to click on every tab and view the information in it. There is useful information under every tab, so be sure to familiarize yourself with where everything is located.

Payments & Cashouts 10/10:
Payments are sent out on the 1st and 16th of every month as long as the minimum payout amount has been reached. You can choose to get paid by check, direct deposit, Payoneer, or Paxum. They also offer international wire transfer and international check by mail to select countries. For check in the mail to USA or Canada, there is no charge and the minimum payout is $20. For direct deposit to USA, there is no charge and the minimum payout is $20. Payoneer is also free and the minimum payout is $20. Paxum is free to and the minimum payout is $10. International wire transfers cost $15 and there is a minimum payout of $1000. International checks by mail are free and have a minimum payout of $100.

MFC also allows you to skip a payout if you choose to. You can hold off on payment for as long as you want, and switch it back on at any time.

Privacy Protection & Geo-Blocking 10/10:
There are a few different options to help you with privacy concerns. You are able to block both countries and specific regions (states/provinces) from viewing your camming profile. You are also able to ban specific users from entering your room. You can ban someone for a short period of time or put a lifetime ban on them. You can unban them at any time if you choose to. You can also attach a note to them so you remember why you banned them. This note is private and can only be viewed by you.

Customer Service & Support 9/10:
MFC does not offer any phone support. You can only contact them through email. They have a lot of extensive resource guides for models, so you more than likely will be able to find the answer to any questions you have in there. But if you do need to get in contact with them via email, they are pretty quick to respond.

Overview:
Overall Myfreecams is a great option for a camming platform. They are the largest cam site in the world and host some of the most successful models. Their vast amount of features are designed to help make you the most amount of money possible.

Streamate Features

Streamate Review

When deciding which cam site you want to cam on, checking out Streamate is a great option. Unlike some sites where you can perform sexual acts in public, Streamate does not allow below the waist nudity unless you’re in a private chat session. The benefit to this is that your content won’t get stolen as often and distributed all over the internet and you don’t have to beg for tips. If someone likes your look, personality, or the things you offer, they’ll take you into private for a show.

There are three different kinds of shows you can do with Streamate: private, exclusive, and gold shows. For private and exclusive, you set your own rate that your fans pay per minute. Generally your private rate will be set lower than your exclusive rate. You can also choose to offer block sessions. Block sessions are “bulk” chat sessions where your fan pays for a committed amount of time with you (15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes). Depending on the length of the block session they choose, they get a discount off of your normal rate (5% for 15 minutes, 10% for 30 minutes, 15% for 45 minuttes, or 20% for 60 minutes). Once you have accepted a block session offer, you must stream for the entire time block, otherwise you won’t get paid and you could face account suspension.

In private chat, multiple fans can enter your room and watch the show. Because of this, most models will not take requests and just kind of do their own thing and put on a more general show. This way everyone is satisfied.

1)Exclusive is one-on-one, just you and the one fan who took you exclusive. Since it’s just you two in there, this is where you can take requests, use their name, roleplay, perform fetishes, and put on a more personalized show for them.

Gold shows are a bit different. When starting a gold show, you put in your room topic describing what you plan on doing in the show, how much each fan has to contribute into the show in order to watch it, the amount of gold (1 gold= $1 USD) you want to collect overall in order to start your show, how long your fans have to get you to that goal, and how long of a show you’re gonna put on. If you reach your goal before the timer is up, you’ll definitely start the show. If you don’t reach your goal in time, you can decide to cancel the show (none of your fans who tipped in will be charged and you will not be paid anything) or go ahead and do the show anyways. If you’re pretty close to your goal, it’s a good idea to just go ahead and start. Some fans will wait until they see if the show actually starts or not before they join. So you may end up hitting your goal during your gold show.

Streamate also has a very cool (and profitable!) newer feature: TV Broadcasts. These shows used to be broadcast on live television, but their television partnership has ended. However, the feature is sill active and a great way to pick up new fans! TV Broadcasts are very similar to gold shows. The main difference is that they are guaranteed shows. This means that even if you don’t hit your goal, you still get paid your entire goal! If you don’t hit your goal, Streamate will compensate you about 30 minutes after your broadcast has ended. TV producers hand pick who to give TV Broadcasts to and they set your goal based off of the average you usually pull in during a gold show. Another small difference is that you must turn off all music and move anything that could be a copyright infringement out of the view of your camera.

Your ranking on the site is partially based off of ratings that your fans give you. Fans are prompted to rate you between 1 and 5 stars after a private or exclusive session. When they first enter the show, be sure to encourage them to rate you 5 stars afterwards. Some models will even offer a video or photo in exchange for a 5 star rating.

And that takes us into another feature on Streamate: their messaging system. The way the messaging is set up on the site, you cannot message a fan unless they message you first. Make sure you always let your fans know this if you offer them a video or pictures after a show so that they know to message you first in order to claim it. Sharing any personal information/social media accounts/other usernames/other websites is against the rules on Streamate. But anonymous file sharing, such as through Dropbox, is allowed. Be sure that there is no personal information or watermarks (unless watermarked with your Streamate username or URL) on any of your videos or photos that you offer.

The final feature on Streamate that we’re gonna delve into is their integration with ModelCentro. ModelCentro is a CMS platform that allows cam models or independent models to easily run their own fan site. If you have a website through ModelCentro, you can link it with your Streamate account and advertise that link when you’re broadcasting on Streamate. You cannot give your actual website URL out, but instead a banner will be automatically generated on your Streamate profile. When your fans click that banner, they’ll be able to sign-up for your ModelCento website. Streamate and ModelCentro both keep a portion of your earnings when you get sign-ups this way. Your fans’ membership will automatically renew each month until they cancel. When they sign-up to your ModelCentro site through Streamate, you can also offer them a percentage off your private or exclusive shows while they’re a member of your site.

Steamate’s current global ranking according to Alexa is 10,465 and 4,845 in the United States. Not as good traffic as some other cam sites out there, but still decent. If you like the idea of private shows as opposed to public shows (like the ones you would do on sites such as Myfreecams), Streamate is one of your best options.

Lighting Guide For Your Cam Space

Proper lighting is one of the most important factors when setting up your cam space. The correct lighting will not only eliminate annoying and unflattering shadows, but it will also greatly improve the overall appearance of your cam stream. If your room is too dark, your video may appear grainy or just not as sharp. If the lighting is too bright in your room, it could change your skin color and make you looked washed out.

Amazon offers many options for inexpensive, but professional lighting equipment. For best results, you’ll want three separate lighting sources. The first light you’ll want to set up in front of you, behind your webcam, pointed at you. You may have to adjust the height to reduce glare, but generally setting it up about the same height as yourself will be perfect. The next two lights should be on either side of you, but still in front of you. Again, adjusting them to be about the same height as yourself should work well. Some tinkering may be needed to get it just right. Play around with it until your illuminated without any shadows, shiny spots, or glare. Don’t make the mistake of setting up a light behind you. Not only will it show up on cam, but it may actually darken your stream.

If you’re still unsure of how to set up your lights, check out our visual guide at the end of this article.

If you can’t afford professional lighting right off the bat, don’t worry. Regular lights work well too. If you have floor lamps that are around the same height as you, definitely use those. If you have shorter lamps, put them on tables on either side of you if possible. You can also play around with different bulb shades to see what looks best. Some bulbs will give off a blueish, natural glow, while others will have a yellowish tint to them.

Hanging up colorful light strands can be a fun way to add character to your room. Icicle lights dangling from the ceiling behind you is a nice touch. Or attaching Christmas lights around the frame of your bed or couch looks cool too. You can even get light strands with your favorite characters on them: Hello Kitty, Star Wars characters, etc.

Your main light will be set up behind your webcam, directly in front of you. You’ll want to position it at about your same height for best results.

Setting Up Your Cam Space

Setting your cam space up correctly

Setting up your camming space properly is incredibly important. You’re gonna want to choose an area that is private, visually appealing, can accommodate everything you plan on doing, and is comfortable for you.

When fans enter your cam room, the first thing they see is you, but the second thing is the overall appearance of your space. They want to see good lighting, no clutter, and decorations/props that fit your niche. If you’re into bondage and/or domination, maybe try adding some whips, handcuffs, or a strap-on somewhere in your room. If your thing is playing up being a cute, young teen, make your room bright, colorful, and girly. This helps the customer know what you’re all about without even having to ask. It also helps make the experience more genuine and real for them.

Depending on the site you cam on, having a poster, neon dry erase board, or chalkboard in the background is a great idea. It encourages engagement and sometimes competitiveness! You could have a list of your top tippers for the month. That will encourage your fans to compete for the number one spot on that list. A sign could also be used for informative purposes: such as listing
videos you have for sale, contests that you’re currently holding, or a tip menu. Be creative with it! Figuring out the surface you want to work on is also important. You want to make sure you’re comfortable, that way you can put on your best possible show every time. Some models are most comfortable on a bed, futon, or couch. Some prefer an office chair. Some models even cam from the floor! Figure out what bests fits your needs. Or maybe even switch it up from time to time depending on the kind of show you’re doing.

As we talked about in a previous article, webcam lighting is crucial. Getting the correct lighting equipment and positioning it correctly will make all the difference in the appearance of your cam stream. You’ll be able to eliminate shadows and get rid of any graininess. After all, your customers are there to see you. Make sure they’re actually able to! Click Here For a Visual Guide to Webcam Lighting

Take advantage of holidays! When there’s a holiday coming up, switch things up and decorate your cam space for that particular holiday. Not only is it fun, but it gives your fans something new to talk to you about. You’re bound to get flooded with compliments! You can also use the holidays to run special holiday-themed contests and giveaways. If it’s Valentine’s Day, write their username on a heart if they tip a certain amount. Or hang up a customized ornament for them around Christmas time. Again, be creative here and do something that your fans can engage in.Now your space is all set up and you’re ready to go!

Getting Started on becoming a cam model

Getting Started Being A Webcam Model – What To Do First:

So you want to be a cam model? Now that you’ve made that decision, it’s time to get yourself all set up. If you don’t already have high speed internet, it’s time to upgrade. Your internet speed plays a big factor in your ranking on almost every cam site. To test your current internet speed, run a speed test at www.speedtest.net. The main thing you’re gonna want to look at is your upload speed. If it’s below 1.0 Mbps, you’re gonna want to upgrade to something faster. This will not only make your cam stream run smoothly, but it will also reduce the delay in your chat room when interacting with fans.

The next step is getting a laptop or desktop computer that can run the software needed to cam. Every cam site has their own software, and there’s even additional webcam software that you can download from the internet. Some are more advanced than others, and require a faster computer. If your computer remains near 100% CPU or lags when running your camming software, it may be time to upgrade. A computer with an i7 processor (or it’s equivalent) and 3 GB of RAM or more is recommended for optimal performance. If possible, it’s also a good idea to use a wired connection. It’s usually faster, and much more reliable that going wireless. To setup a wired connection, you just connect your computer to your modem or router using an ethernet cable.

We can’t forget about the webcam itself! Even if you have a newer laptop with a built-in camera, you aren’t going to get the quality that you get with an external webcam. Aside from that, it’s nice to be able to pick up and move your camera around for some shows. There are two webcams that every established cam model will recommend. The first is the Logitech C920. You can pick one up on Amazon for around $70-$75. It’s a great camera that shoots in full 1080p HD. If you’re looking for a camera with some extra features, the Logitech BCC950 Conference Cam is a great option. This camera also shoots in full 1080p HD. One of the perks of this camera is the remote control that it comes with. With the remote, you can move your camera in all directions and zoom in and out without having to physically move your whole camera. It has a noise-cancelling microphone built into it, so your fans will be able to hear you loud and clear even if you’re moving around, dancing, far away, etc. This cam is a bit more expensive though. On Amazon, it will run you around $200.

So you’ve done all the upgrades, but your cam stream is still looking dark or grainy. Good lighting can make all the difference! Natural lighting is great if you’re camming during the day, but professional lighting works just as well… day or night! You can find inexpensive, professional webcam lighting on Amazon. There’s some decent ones on there for around $50. When positioning your lights, you’ll want to place your light sources in front of you, behind your webcam. This way it’ll light up your face and make you look vibrant. You may need to adjust the height or position of your lights to prevent glare, especially if you wear glasses.
