Different types of cam-girls.

The Anonymous Cam-girl: A model who likes to stay anonymous, log-on, make that money and then be done for the day. They may run a twitter account or an Instagram, but usually keep it private and don’t promote much, other than to have a place where their regulars and fans can find them and keep in touch outside of their cam times.

The “CeWEBrity” Cam-girl: A model that wants to create a brand and maximize earning potential/accessibility etc., by creating a demand for that brand.

Both types are bad ass bitches who hustle and make those dollar, dollar bills ya’ll (can I get an AMEN!?) However, for the sake of me saving you time (since we all know that time is money) I’m going to put a DISCLAIMER on this one.

This article is going to be focusing on branding; specifically through cross promotion, so if you’re wanting to slay that anonymous lifestyle, you might not find much to help you out here. (Except for the endorphins that reading this will no doubt create.)

Moving on….

In my opinion, cross promotion is hands down one of the most important aspects to branding and all around brand awareness, which will result increased sales of your product. (Your product being your content, your cam shows and most important of them all: YOU)

Personally, I am on the following social medias:

*Twitter

*Instagram

*Snapchat

*Periscope

*Tumblr

I know what some of you are thinking. Why so many? That sounds like it will take a lot of time that could be spent camming or doing other things. While I agree that it is time consuming (and secretly I hate all social media) it’s a necessary evil to both the demand and accessibility of your brand.

If you aren’t already, I highly recommend being on every platform possible. (save for Facebook, but that’s a whole different article)

This brings me to my next point. The basics of economics, supply and demand. The supply is your product and the demand is created by you.

In this day and age, and especially in the adult industry you MUST create your own demand. Nobody else is going to do it for you, and this is a situation where the phrase “I get out of it what I put into it” should be your mantra.

Nobody knows what they want to buy until you tell them. Why is the iPhone so popular? They build up to the release date. Apple creates the demand and then supplies the product. You should be doing the same thing and the way to do it is free. Cross Promotion.

Here’s an average day for me on social media:

Step 1.) Say good morning on Snapchat and let them know I’ll be on Periscope in 10 min (insert Periscope name and twitter handle so they know where to go)

Step 2.) Get on Periscope and live broadcast for a few minutes. Right when I am about to log off I tell them to follow me on Snapchat if they want to see what I’m doing through the day. If I’m about to go live on cam I tell them where they can go sign up to keep hanging out with me. (Make sure you aren’t spamming, the key is subtlety.)

Step 3.) Log onto Twitter and have promoters RT “Live Periscope stream” and quote the tweet myself saying if they missed me, to follow so they catch it next time! This will get more people to re-play my broadcast, give me hearts and increase my popularity making the broadcast reach more people.

Step 4.) Post a pic on Snapchat saying the same thing “Miss me on Periscope? Broadcast is still available! Go watch it now!”

Step 5.) Save the pic from Snapchat and post on Instagram telling them to follow my twitter and add me on Periscope so they can talk with me live.

Step 6) Posting on Snapchat/Twitter/Instagram through the day with links to where they can find me on other platforms. (Ex. Post a pic on Twitter and write the link to your instagram. Post a pic on Instagram and tell them where to find you on Twitter.)

Step 7.) End the night with an after cam session on Periscope. (these can be quick. 5-10 minutes) Saying goodnight, having inside jokes with the guys who were hanging out in my cam room.. Creating demand of people wanting to have the same type of “friendship” with me.

… you get the idea. Everything is connected and people want to feel like they know you. Branding is all about injecting personality in a product and YOU are the product that you will be convincing them to invest in. (and yes, I use the word invest. To you it’s a purchase.. To everyone who is parting with that $10-$50-$100, it’s an investment of their money to receive something they are hoping will be worth it in the long run, and will continue to invest in if it is. There is an initial risk factor for the buyer that should always be taken into consideration.)

All of that being said, there are a few important things to remember. You MUST master the art of subtle selling. Don’t push it in their faces, and don’t only post links to where they can purchase products. People don’t invest in desperation, the invest in something that everyone wants.

The trick is to create the illusion that everything is their idea, while always keeping it fresh in their minds. Subliminal Perception, if you will. Ever hear about how back in the old days they would insert quick flashes of Coca-cola products or a picture of popcorn in movie previews? It would happen so fast you wouldn’t consciously know that you were seeing it, however some studies showed that it would increase the volume in sales at the concession stands. They did the same thing in World War II, with subliminal messaging by using a tachistoscope (a machine that projects images extremely briefly and rapidly) to teach soldiers how to spot enemy planes.

Cross promotion is, in essence, the same idea. By constantly putting yourself in their faces, it will create a sense of familiarity in their mind. You’ll notice people start to WANT to see you in their faces, so much so that they will start putting you in OTHER peoples’ faces, who will then want to find out more about you and see if they also want you all up in their grill. Alas, with cross promotion you have created a virtual snowball effect.

Damn, see all that demand? You created that ish. Now be proud and keep yourself there.

Why Social Media is so important for webcam models

Did you know that there are women making six figure incomes using social media sites like Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and Kik? Seem like an impossible task? It’s actually easier than you think.
Creating a strong social media presence is as important as turning on your camera for your cam show. You want to build yourself up as a brand—a bankable brand. Having lots of followers can lead to endorsements, ad sales, affiliate sales, or in some cases, a modeling contract.

If you’re new to the social media game it can seem intimidating to jump in. It’s best to start with the most adult friendly platforms like Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. Instagram isn’t entirely adult content friendly but they’ll make exceptions if you censor your images (i.e. use Emojis to cover your nipples).

Instagram is far and away the best platform for becoming a ‘fit tea girl’ which is an Instagramer insider joke for women who promote detox teas and waist trainers. Those girls make serious money advertising weight loss products and exercise gear. Other girls use Instagram to show off their favorite lingerie or swimsuits and get paid to promote the brands they love.

How do they do it? First, they amass a large following, then they tag their favorite companies in their photos and mention them in their captions. The companies will often times reach out to the cam girl and offer either a discount on their product, an affiliate code, or they’ll pay for a sponsored post. Sponsored posts make anywhere from $30-$1,000 which means you post the brand’s picture for an hour and then take it down. Some girls will leave the posts up but other girls don’t like to be so blatant in their advertising.

Advertising other brands isn’t the only thing Instagram is good for. It’s also a great way to advertise your shows (and your other social media outlets.) You don’t want to make a habit of posting solely about your upcoming shows, but a flirty photo and a link to your cam site (in your bio) could be a great way to drive traffic to your show.

If posting photos of your everyday life to make money isn’t your thing, then consider joining Twitter. Twitter is a great tool for promoting your shows and showing off your, ahem, assets. A lot of girls set their Twitter account to private and charge money to their fans during cam shows to unlock access to their Twitter account. Cam girls typically charge fans between 100 and 200 tokens for access to their Twitter account.

Snapchat is another great social media tool for making money or building up your brand. Snapchat stories allows you to piece together a daily story showcasing your life which is something your fans will definitely be interested in seeing. There’s even a program called Snapcash. Snapcash allows fans to send you money directly through Snapchat. So if a fan wants to talk to you, you can charge them via Snapcash.Because Snapchat is a no-holds-barred venue for cam girls to connect directly with their fans there are tons of forums where you can find potential fans looking to interact with cam girls. The only problem with Snapcash is that some fans will cancel payment directly after they request a photo or chat with a girl. It happens frequently on Paypal and other money transfer services as well, so be wary of new customers.

The fourth social media platform you should jump on if you’re a cam girl is KIK. You can chage your fans to talk to you on KIK and have one on one conversation. It’s an easy way to make your fans feel connected to you, which typically equates to larger tips in future shows.

No matter what social media platform you choose to use (and really you should choose all of them) you need to be extremely consistent. Post everyday, at least three times a day to all your accounts and vary your posts. No one that’s paying for unique content wants to see the same selfie on Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. Give your customers some variety and they’ll be followers for a lifetime. The most important aspect of any social media campaign is to think of yourself as a brand. Don’t post things that are off topic or too sales-pitchy. It’s ok to talk about yourself and tell people what time you’ll be camming, but they want to see you as a human being, not just another face selling a product. Ingratiate yourself with the fans, make them care about you, and soon you’ll be raking in the tokens.
